Red Chinese console table , sideboard, hall table

£815.00

A Chinese Red Lacquered Altar Table/Sideboard. This wood table stand on four rectangular section legs with carved frill and interesting decorative carving. It was originally unpainted wood. It has been revived in a traditional Chinese red paint colour and accented with gold wax. I have hand painted gold birds on the front. It is thought to be 19th century. It has one strong drawer with attached brass pull. Removing the drawer reveals a large secret void which can also be used for storage. This would probably have been used to display a Buddha figure with the draws storing incense, rosaries etc. The table is rustic in its construction and finish. The carvings each side are again rustic but detailed and gives this piece some real character. It has considerable signs of use, age & wear, however, this is the charm of this particular item and serves to show its authenticity. The table has the remains of a Chinese wax export stamp circa 1960-80.

Height: 84cm

Width: 98cm

Depth: 56cm

Furniture Care:

A careful dusting with a lint free cloth which can be slightly damp. As with all wooden and painted furniture a coaster should be used and harsh chemicals avoided.

With this being a Vintage piece of furniture, there will be signs of a previous life. This adds to the character and charm.

Please contact us for an accurate shipping cost. I will always try keep it as low as possible.
